In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through setting up a basic church livestream using the ATEM Mini Pro video switcher. With just a few essential components and straightforward steps, you can start streaming your church services with ease.

Supplies Needed:

  • ATEM Mini Pro
  • Ethernet cable
  • Camera with HDMI output
  • HDMI cable
  • Laptop

Step 1: Setup ATEM Mini Pro

Place the ATEM Mini Pro on a clear surface and connect the power using the secure screw-on connector. Once powered, the device will light up, indicating readiness.

Step 2: Connect to Network and Internet

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the ATEM Mini Pro to your router, ensuring both network and internet connectivity. This enables streaming capabilities and allows control via laptop later.

Step 3: Connect Camera

Connect your camera’s HDMI output to Input 1 on the back of the ATEM Mini Pro using an HDMI cable. Ensure your camera is set to output a clean feed over HDMI to avoid overlaying icons or information on the livestream.

Step 4: Configure Livestream Settings

Access YouTube Studio on your laptop and navigate to the Livestream tab. Create a new stream key, which acts as a secure password for streaming to your YouTube account. Copy the stream key for later use.

Step 5: Input Stream Key into ATEM Mini Pro

Download and install ATEM Software Control from Blackmagic’s support page. Open the software and connect to the ATEM Mini Pro on your local network. Navigate to the Livestream section and input your YouTube stream key.

Step 6: Start Livestream

With the stream key configured, you’re ready to go live. Press the “On Air” button on the ATEM Mini Pro to start streaming your church service to YouTube. Ensure Input 1 is active (indicated by a red light) before going live.

Step 7: Monitor and Improve

Consider additional upgrades for better livestream quality, such as integrating audio from your soundboard and using a tripod for camera stability. You can also connect a monitor as a multiview for enhanced monitoring capabilities.
